I’m Not Ready Yet.

To those across the aisle who are asking me to “come together with our new President for the sake of the country,” or those on my side of the aisle who are asking me to be more tolerant: No. I’m not ready. I wish I could go with you on this one, but I am simply not ready yet.

As a father of three women, I just am too damned angry that half of my country put an old rich man in the Oval Office who would just as soon grab my daughters’ private parts on his way to crushing LGBTQ rights before he builds a wall to keep the Mexican rapists out and the KKK in, then kills a bunch of Muslim family members after lunch, defunds the EPA, drops regulations on big business and banking, kicks hard working people out of the country, cuts corporate and wealthy people’s taxes for dinner, and takes away health coverage for 22 million people who never had it before as an after dinner mint.

I do see your point, and I will eventually be able to come around to having a cogent discussion of issues and values with someone who doesn’t agree with me. But not now. I’m too pissed off.

So I am going to continue to march with the young people, the people of color, the gay community, the immigrants, the women, and declare at the top of my lungs, “Fuck Trump!” or “Trump is not my President” or “Pussy grabs back!” Why? Because it feels good to get it off my chest, to feel like I am making a statement that can be heard, and to be with the future of our country. I’ll get there.

Just not right now.
